ASMEC - Your partner for surface mechanics

Die ASMEC Advanced Surface Mechanics GmbH was established in 2003 by Dr. Thomas Chudoba, who is a recognized expert in the field of surface mechanics and nanoindentation. Since August 2011 ASMEC belongs to the ZwickRoell Group. The goal for founding the company was the development of advanced instruments, methods and software for the mechanical characterization and optimization of surfaces and coatings. This is still our objective today.
The ZwickRoell Group, with its main quarter in Ulm (Germany), is one of the world′s leading suppliers of materials and component testing systems. The acquisition expands the group's portfolio with regard to the micro and nano ranges of mechanical test equipment. End of 2015 the manufacturing of a newly developed generation of nanomechanical testers was transferred to ZwickRoell. Their name is now ZHN. In the frame of a restructuring 2016 ASMEC became a pure development and measurement service provider. The majority conditions of the shareholder have changed so that ASMEC as independent GmbH is again a small and medium enterprise (SME). The cooperation with ZwickRoell is defined in a development contract.

The tree business segments are now:
  • Development of new methods, software and instruments for the mechanical characterization as contract work or within research projects
  • Service for the first generation of nanomechanical testers with the name UNAT
  • Measurement service with the own test equipment
ASMEC has close contact to many research institutes and universities and takes part at national and international research projects.

The distribution of the new nanomechanical testers (ZHN) is solely done by our mother company ZwickRoell.
